First Outing of April

Well here we go, entering the first stages of the rush of the new gowth of the season.
Each and every plant loving up all the warmth from the sun and embraceing the damp of the snow melt. Little seeds springing to life and our family escaping to out of doors to enjoy as much as possible.

I had my mushroom scout Mycena with me this weekend and she the first of several fruiting fungi.
It's so nice to know our feild is a natural area, and boy do we enjoy the nature up there.
We had our minds set on enjoying the sunny afternoon on the hill flying the kite.
While the cold windy gusts were wonderful, they did not sustain the kite.
But we did have lots of fun trying.
It was so wonderful to relax out side, on our first day sitting on the ground soaking in the sun.
Mycena caught a shoot of the only moment in the air, but there will be many more days to come.
Heading down the path in such early spring, in just a few months this will be lush green.................
The wild leeks are on of our favorite finds, we each nibbled a leaf and look forward to harvesting some for dinner some day.
This is the path tru the neighbors woods leading to a sweet little wet land and a culvert that opens up to a little pool on the other side.  The owners took down a big  cottenwood tree and Mycena was so saddened to see one of her favorites gone. How i have taught her to be sympathetic to the plight of trees.
On our adventure we found seed pods and shelf fungi.
Saw sprouts and nibblings on trees.
The rooting around in the leaf litter by some little creature andthe scat of coyotes.
The songs of small birds and the wind whipping thru the trees.
This was our first trip up since the fall and an awaking of our spirits in our own back yard.
